Advice needed

Yeah, the truck is a want and not a need. Sounds like you’re killing it with an old truck so your customers don’t seem to care what you drive.

Once you go and do your own thing, its rare someone go’s back to working for someone else.

You will need to think FIRST about your family and what you both want out of life. Period.

If you plan to start a family, please take time out to ask your folks if you can and try to understand the struggles they had with you growing up.

You will find out that although it is rewarding to an extent, if you are not extremely careful you will put way too much time into your business than its ever worth.

Ask SUCCESSFUL business owners/partners how their family life is.

You and your lady need to be of the same mind with this and she needs to either be your partner or behind you. Without her, it ain’t going to work.

You can do it.

The real question tho, is SHOULD you do it.

There is a lot of head aches that come with the territory, whereas with a regular job, your boss takes all those headaches home with him, while you get to go home and kick it with your wife.

Take your time to decide. And do be afraid to change the road your’re on if you don’t like where you are heading.

I hope that helps man.

Haha, I’ve got nothing against trucks. Or even new trucks, if you’re well established and it makes more sense than buying used. But it’s the last thing that should be on your shopping list if you’re just getting established and looking to gain some financial freedom. (IMHO )

I do find the F-series pickups incredibly commonplace and boring, right along with the plethora of aging Chevy 1500’s that for some reason are always gray (did they make those trucks in any other color??)

I saw a black Nissan Titan today that I really liked, with the diesel motor. And I like the old Toyota pickups.

I’m probably tired of seeing trucks 'cause I’m in hick country and everyone has one. Makes no sense. Trucks are for work or for the rich. They’re not a commuter car for low-middle income households that need to move a bed or some silly thing every few years… ///rant

I’ll likely drive a truck till the day I die or can’t drive anymore. I love my truck. I can tow my travel trailer or whatever else I want. Do I “need” it everyday? No, but I definitely get more done for having it. Nothing ever piles up until I figure out how to get rid of it. :triumph:

Amazing advice. Very insightful.

I was always anti-truck until i needed one for the business. Now that ive owned one, I don’t ever want to be without it. Every family should have a truck!

You make your own “luck” but of course that nice steady paycheck and benefits is amazing… but with commercial contracts and route work you’ll be ok through winter months, you’ll be even better if you offer commercial office cleaning year round.

Keep the Ford no need to waste the cash now. I still roll three cause they run for ever. Black and Red (plow also) for daily and white (plow only).

Put the money into Adverts and maybe get started in WFP

As for the job if you can keep past the winter and see how the waters run then that would be a better option I.M.O. Its not going to slow you down keeping it but will cover if you run into a lean first winter

four letter F words. three of em.

I will always own a truck, even if I become a snowbird in the Philippines. The most common trucks there are little Mitsubishi " multicabs" with 13" tires.

Mortgage or renting? Just wondering most of us were renters when starting out and saved enough for home within 5 years. If you work 7 days per week now you are suited for self employment expect more hours with more profit and more self satisfaction longterm.
