A mile marker for my business!

Today was a big step in my business. Because up until now I have Been on every job site for every minute making sure it was running smooth and doing all the tough parts. Today was big for me because I was actually able to leave the job for 25 minutes and go help my mom change a flat tire on the side of the road. I set up my employee and he knew what to do and kept the job going while I left. This felt great for me since this was the first time my job was being accomplished without me being there.
I know this is small stuff for a lot of you guys with multiple crews, but it is a step in the direction that I’m trying to go. My plans for the business are to have a couple other crews full time and me. In order to be able to do this, I need employees I can trust and count on. Today my guy showed me he can be responsible and get things done. So I see a light on the horizon in a sense for meeting my goal.

That’s great…I bet your employee liked being on his own too. A win/win for everyone.

congrats.
this year i hired a call center to call my customer list because i just didn’t have time, they booked twenty appointments for me

Do you give the call center approximate amounts of time need d on site for the different types of jobs?

i gave them access to my tcf account. they could see past jobs and rebook them to the tcf calendar,
i told them how i set appts based on arrival time spread, dollars per hour/day

Is 2 to 3 1/2 hours a common range for your resi jobs?

Hey if they are happy being on the site alone and do a great job, I’m all for it too. That’s the end result eventually anyway.

yes quite common for in/out, screens & tracks.
outs only 50-90 minutes

Good help is hard to find. Know it all too well. Get bigger ambitions, get more headaches. Not many people going to work like you. You can do bad by yourself, cut the dead weight lose.

@Tgrove28 Thanks man I feel pretty good about it. Sounds like you are on the right track too! The work truck is one of the biggest things to get out of the way next to the employee. I plan on getting a van once I feel completely confident that I can have someone do a job the way I expect it from start to finish without me. That’s where I’m realizing that having all of your systems documented is huge when you have employees. I’m going through the process now of putting all of my business into paper documentation. It’s kind of a lot of work I’m not even sure where to start sometimes. But I’m confident by next year we will both have 2 vehicles and a crew running!
