20 foot extensions ladders

Hey guys so I just bought a 20 footer, was wondering who else uses them, how useful are they/ how much do you use them and just your overall experiences with a 20 foot ladder

That’s my main go to ladder. I have only had to rent a 32 footer once, so far. 20 foot is lightweight and easy enough to move around.

My smallest is 24’ but sometimes I think I could get by with a 20’ on a decent percent of the homes I do and enjoy the weight difference.

Same here my ladder is either 20’ or 22’ and it’s the only large ladder I use.

If I can’t reach it while on that ladder, I don’t need to clean it. (Except now I can with my wfp setup!!)

For three years my go to was a 24’ 3 section Werner extension ladder. Fall of 2016 I switched to a sectional to get rid of ladder racks to increase mileage on my Tundra. I found that most of the time I was on using only 3 sections which equates to about 16’ feet. Anything above 4 sections I would use my WFP

My apologies, my ladder is actually only 17 feet… Hmm I might go buy the 21’ version now… I LOVE THIS LADDER! Also buying the smaller 13ft one as well!

I feel as 1 of these type of ladders is enough I love how flexible they are in relation to how you can use them.
But I really don’t believe they are better to use than an extension if you can use an extension (we don’t have stacks here)
They are very heavy and quite cumbersome to be using solely imo, they have a place I doubt unless I was tight on roof space, I would prefer to use extension for anything over 17’.

each to their own

Heavy? I keep reading reviews of people saying these are heavy? I really don’t get it? I can carry this thing one handed! the 17’ has done me great but always seemed a tad too short, so I want to replace it with the 21’ eventually. And i like the versatility of these types of ladders on uneven ground i want a really small version of it so i can do those taller single story windows, but happen to be on weird topography normal step ladders don’t stand safe on, and my 17’ / 21’ would be just too tall. so why not one that sits at 3’-6’ high normally and can become 13’

but these are not heavy at all, or im super omega strong. I find most extension ladders to be awkward to carry,

Since they are a newer ladder, many people are used to extension and stack ladders of comparable sizes these type of ladders are heavy, I’m not saying they are not manageable, hell I can carry a fully extended 32’ all day long, its just for their size in comparison my 17’ is heavier than my 21’ extension.

carry it like a case of beer over the shoulder when moving it long distances. when you move them when vertical you need to stand at the base of the ladder holding a rung at waist height and a rung just above head height from the side of the ladder, lift straight up and watch the tip of the ladder while moving.

That’s exactly how I move all my ladders.

I’m not talking about when they are up and used. Extension ladders are long and awkward to move everywhere else lol

We have a 20?22?’ Ladder at my Hardware job, every time (especially holiday season), we use that ladder we have to move so awkwardly around everyone and everything… last year I pulled out my fancy ladder from my work truck and showed my manager how mine worked… he loves it so freaking much.

No he didn’t buy one, one should he, there’s a perfectly working ladder no need to replace it… lol says he.

Everyone is allowed to use what ever ladder they want… I now take my ladder to work with me.

I believe they’re talking about the big ones, like the 28’ kpro I got. It’s got some weight on it but so do I at 6’4 245 lbs. Lol
