12V pump help, please!

I haven’t replace that line yet, but I will. I am getting the same issue in both pumps, so it seems unlikely to me that both supply lines would develop a leak at the same time.

Edit: sorry, I wrote this before I saw your reply to me.

Then the plumbing has to change, too. Air is getting into the supply lines that froze. Since there is no pressure on the suction side, leaks will not be apparent. If I were a betting person, I’d put up a good sum that this is your issue.

With just a little air in the pump, it will prevent them from operating correctly, in exactly the way you’ve described. Overheating, cycling, pressure switches not shutting off, etc.

Thanks for the confirm on the pump size. It is interesting that nothing other than the pumps have changed. I wonder if they are just more efficient and moving a higher volume of water compared to the older pump, or it could be the PS is set lower than on previous pumps. In which case reducing the flow rate may resolve the issue without a reduction in flow volume

@Infinity thinks my supply lines may have small air leaks. I will be changing those lines ASAP to be sure that is not an issue.

I do have a question for you about the lines I use on the discharge side of the pump. Is there less back-pressure with a larger line reduce to 3/16" pole hose vs. using nothing but the small hose? One person told me the back-pressure will be the same, even with larger ID line since the flow would still be restricted by the smaller hose at the brush-end of the line. Or, would the larger capacity of the larger ID hose make the pump “happier”?

Amount of back pressure is a factor of flow rate, orifice size, and distance. So if you have 200’ of 3/8” and 50’ of 3/16”, you’ll have way less back pressure than 250’ of 3/16”. Whoever gave you the “weakest link” explanation was mistaken.

You might just need to retighten some hose clamps. Start with that

I had to retighten some hose clamps this spring, for the same reason. Thankfully for the sake of my sanity, I wasn’t getting a prime at all on the pump, so I figured out right away what was wrong.

Alex, would you mind sending me photos of your hose set-up; reels, specific hose, quick-connects, etc., when you have a couple of minutes? I can send you my phone number / email address if you’d rather text or email them. Or, if you have a few minutes sometime in the next few days, I’d appreciate it if I could give you a phone call.

Hi Tony, feel free to call me. I work with a headset most of the time. 8023809036

My setup isn’t really an example to aspire to, lol. Otherwise I’d post pics here.

It works, so I aspire to that. :sunglasses:

I’ll call you either today or Monday. Thanks for your help.

Here is the V-11 it is actually the lowest cost control we sale. https://shopwindowcleaningresource.com/high-current-pump-controller.html

Here are a few pictures of set ups with flow control and pump. As you can see each pump has its own control and the one is using 3/8 OD with JG push fittings.

I don’t see any photos, John.

What is the ID size of the line? Is that all 3/16" pole hose or is it larger & then reduced at the pole?

That is OD 3/8 and ID 1/4

u I Been using this for over a year now. The only problems I had was air getting in. The clamps weren’t tight enough , Also I didn’t have a 90 degree fitting on the filter , so the hose was crimping.

Once I straighten all that out it’s beem working like a champ. I left the pump out all winter too. I guess I got lucky therr.
These pumps are relatively cheap at a 100 bucks or so , but still don’t want to be freezing the pump ,so this year I’ll bring it in, Or maybe blow the lines ,and pump out. Didn’t do that this past year.

I’m also not using a pump controller. I use a smalle inline ball valve between my brush An the pole.
Maybe it’s bad for the pump don’t know. I guess I’ll find out.

I have to fix all the wiring it’s a mess right now. Going to move the on\off switch closer tot the door

BTw Tony I use 3/8” hose then have 50” sections of 5/16” hose. Don’t know if any of what I put up helps, but I’m pissed Moustskius isnt on the Mets this year. Not that him alone would of helped , they needed more. He wa the guy the Bumblimg owners of the Mets needed. To cheap to get him.

Just saying

Hey! Thanks for sending all of that. It’s very helpful! Here are a few questions:

What is the ID of the 3/8" hose? Is it the rubber air hose? What reel is that? What quick-connect are you using to reduce down to the pole hose?

If you guys want Moustakas, he is on the trading block. Time for someone to pony-up with some young guys so we have a chance to be good by 2021. Sigh!

Tony it’s 6 MM Microbane hose. It came wiTh the old reel from RHG. A Friend if mine gave me the reel with the hose years ago. I broke the reel ,An them went ,An bought a new reel. At the time they had those the one you see in the pic. They don’t sell them anymore
The reel you see in the picture is a clayber reel they don’t sell them any more in the US. They do in Australia, an Britain … I think .
I use these easy snap quick connects on all my hoses they work wiTh the 6mm hose An the 5/16, although I had a hard time getting it on the 5/16 xzero hose I just bought. Just barley got it on.

Ya I wanted Moustskaous these moron owners of ours had a chance to get him via free agency. There to cheap , so they went with the buy one get one free. Frazier , an Bruce. It’s a nitemare being a Met fan.

Not that you can buy it ! But…

They need to bring these reels back @Alex
