1&1 Hosting

Has anyone used 1&1 for their website?
They seem to have great deals on basic websites… 6 months free and then $10/month, with a 12 month contract. This includes the domain and supposedly a ton of features (like 1200 email accounts… I don’t believe that, but it says it does.)

I’ve actually used them for the last few months but not for my domain… I just point my godaddy registered domain there.

My concern is that they will have my domain name…I don’t have the cash to put into a good website for spring but I will at the end of fall for 2011, and I definitely won’t be using their templates at that point…

It’ll be hard enough copying any aspects of the site I do like, but I definitely don’t want them holding my domain and email address hostage. Any experience with them?

im pretty happy with them so far, great for starting out and having SOME kind of page.

but, id wait til this question gets answered (if I find the answer elsewhere, Ill post up) before you register your domain with them… just my $.02

I’d call go daddy customer service and ask them.

Hey

We have our website through 1and1.com. I honestly am not the most informed about websites but we’ve been really happy. Its cheap and we get tons of compliments about the site. Countless customers have said “I love your website! Did you make it yourself?”

I did create it and people think it was professionally done.
I wouldnt say I know enough to recommend it over other options, but we’re very happy.

The way I would look at it is what has been my ROI. A website can be looked at like a flyer. How many calls are you getting from your present site? A good host should be helping you get a good ROI. Can you pick up the phone and call 1and1.com and get help? These are the questions I would ask myself.

I have to say that I like godaddy for hosting. A friend of mine has 1&1 and he seems to like it. I just like godaddy because of their customer support. I always get my questions quickly and they’re very friendly. Also, there hosting starts at $7 a month. You get 500 email accounts (don’t know anyone with that needs that many). And you can host multiple domains off the one hosting account.

I never heard of the company. But that don’t mean their not good. I use

Have been using them for years and never had a problem. Sites load super fast, databases load super fast. Every thing is super fast and very good. I left them once for about 1 week for the cheaper company and then went back. I’ll never leave them again.
