Winter Storage

Proper storage (long term or winter storage) is very important for pure water systems like your Xero Pure. Whether you are not using it for a couple of month or are letting it sit for the winter, it is recommended that the filters be removed. Take out the sediment carbon filter and discard. It would be ideal to get a new one.

You may also consider taking the DI cartridge out of the housing, wrap it in plastic and keep it somewhere cool and damp. The garage or the basement are perfect storage areas, as long as they do not freeze. Try to drain out as much water as you can from the system, consider shaking it around a bit to get most of it out.

If you’re going to let your system sit for quite some time, it is imperative to protect the RO membrane with Xero Pure RO Protect. For normal long term storage, like a few months, mix RO Protect Powder with a gallon of water and add the diluted solution in the RO membrane by taking the cap right off the top of the RO Membrane. For Winter Storage, mix RO Protect Powder with a gallon of RV Anti Freeze and add the diluted solution in the RO membrane just the same. This protects the RO Membrane from freezing and also helps prevent bacteria growth during winter storage.
